I followed a bridesmaid into the forest,
abandoning a perfect green carpet lawn for the soft gloom of tall trees
a group of wood sprites danced with a naiad, barely noticing as we slipped by
raindrops trickled down, tentative
everyone ran for cover
“I want to get married in the rain,” she said, calm
secretly pleased, I crouched at the back of the pews
thunder rumbled
lightening flashed
guests huddled under useless umbrellas
she danced down the aisle in the rain
and I took pictures
