Kimberly + Xavier’s Wedding at Barrington Golf Club

Kimberly + Xavier’s Wedding at Barrington Golf Club

She smiled right at me when she walked down the aisle
but I knew she wasn’t looking at me
she was looking through the lens
to the future
when she would sit down with her husband
and maybe children?
and remember this day
through the images I would capture

Face hidden behind the bulk of my camera
I smiled back
and pressed the shutter

I have been looking forward to Kimberly and Xavier’s wedding ever since we did their engagement shoot last year. Barrington Golf Club is a beautiful spot for a wedding, and the weather was perfect. Well, maybe a little warm, but the sunshine was nice. They decided to see each other before the ceremony, so I waited outside with Xavier, and watched the anticipation play across his face as he listened to her approach. After months of planning, I’m sure he was curious to see how Kimberly would look. Of course, she didn’t disappoint 🙂 But the best part was watching the nerves and anxiety melt away when they saw each other.

We went out on the golf course to take some photos, and even though Kimberly was wearing amazing heels, she trooped across a creek and up a hillside for some shots. The ceremony was beautiful in its simplicity, and afterward we took photos of their families. Then it was time to party. Cocktails, dinner, dancing–they did it all. Molly Taylor Designs did a gorgeous job with their flowers (I was particularly impressed with the Lamb’s Ear in the bridal bouquets). Their party was in full swing, thanks to John Kerata with The DJ Crew, when we slipped out for a few sunset photos. As any photographer will tell, sunset is such a sweet time to take pictures. We ended the night with Kimberly and Xavier’s friends holding sparklers around them while they kissed. It was an awesome wedding.
